Weekend Sweep Complete, Tigers Hit Finals Break With 91-54 Win Over Cornell

The first 19 points of the game went to Princeton and the tenor never really changed as Saturday night rolled on Jadwin Gym.
The Tigers completed a weekend sweep with a pair of double-digit victories, this one 91-54 over Cornell as Princeton got out to a 19-0 lead while holding the Big Red without a basket inside of 12 minutes left to go in the half. Princeton was up 34 at the half, 53-19, its largest halftime lead over a Division I opponent in Mitch Henderson's six-plus seasons as coach, and Princeton's 53 points were its most at the break against a Division I foe since scoring 57 in the first half against Lafayette two seasons ago.
Princeton shot 61 percent from the field in the first half to get out to the big lead while holding Cornell to 27.6 percent.
Junior Devin Cannady had a game-high 20 points to give him his eighth 20-point game of the season and third in the last four games. Rookie Jerome Desrosiers put in a career-high 14 points, giving him his third 10-point game of the season, all in the last four games.
Princeton's lead grew as large as 38 points after the break as 16 Tigers played and 12 scored.
Postgame Notes
• Princeton extended its Ivy League home winning streak to 18 games, its longest since winning 21 straight from 2010-13. The Tigers will next have the opportunity to extend the streak on Feb. 2 against Yale.
• Devin Cannady's 20 points moved him into 28th place on the Princeton all-time scoring list, past Sydney Johnson '97 (1,044) and Dan Mavraides '11 (1,054), now with 1,055 points. His three 3-pointers pulled him closer to former teammate Spencer Weisz (209), now with 191 career 3s, still sixth-most all-time.
