Princeton Competes at Great Dane Classic

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (1/13/18) - The Princeton men's track & field team was back in action at the Great Dane Classic at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island this afternoon.
Senior Ramon Ayala beat his personal best in the 800 with a 1:57.25 finish in eighth place. Directly behind him was freshman Cole Sandvold at 1:57.28 in his first time running the
collegiate 800.
Multi-event Justice Dixon put up a PR in the 200 as one of three Tigers in the 200. Josh Freeman had the best time at 22.38, followed by Connor Matthews who was just shy of a PR at 22.59 and then Dixon's 22.81.
Senior Garrett O'Toole placed fifth in the 1000 with a time of 2:29.12, just three seconds off of his PR. Sophomore Perrin Hagge also ran this race and placed ninth with a time of 2:32.83.
In the shot put freshman Kelton Chastulik threw 15.89 (52-1.75) for third place Classmate Samuel Wright placed fifth in the same event with a 15.35 (50-4.50) throw.
All three high jumpers did well with freshman Jeffrey Hollis taking eighth with a mark of 2.04 (6-8.25). Both Jeffrey Lee-Heidenreich and junior Andrew Diehl cleared 1.99 (6-6.25) to tie for 12th.
Also in action today was August Kiles at the National Pole Vault Summit in Reno, Nevada. Kiles had the best mark in the collegiate competition. He cleared 5.40 (17-8.50) just shy of his PR of 5.42.
Following exams and intersession break, the Tigers will be back in action on Sunday, Jan. 28 at the annual HYP meet in Boston.
