Princeton Ready For Home Opener Against Seton Hall Wednesday

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers welcome the Seton Hall Pirates to Jadwin Gym for the 2018-19 home opener on Wednesday. Prior to the game, Princeton will unveil its 2018 Ivy Championship banners.

Things to watch out for against George Washington …

Low Output – George Washington shot 44.2 percent from the field in its victory over Princeton. After trailing by as many as 22, Princeton closed with seven with six minutes to go, but the Colonials ended the contest on a 15-5 stretch to earn the victory.

Mei-Lyn Bautista – Bautista had a game-high 15 points, but was forced to take 13 shots to reach that mark. She secured three rebounds, three assists, but did add five steals in the win

The Class of 2022 – Julia Cunningham was one of two players in double figures for Princeton, dropping in 10 points, along with four rebounds and two assists.
Defense, Defense, Defense – George Washington caused 22 Princeton turnovers in the game and allowed the Tigers to just shoot 29 percent. 31 of the Colonials' points came off of Princeton turnovers.

Femi Funeus – Funeus was honored as the Big East Freshman of the Week on Monday as she's started off her collegiate career, averaging 13.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest in the Pirates' three victories. She's made 16 of her 23 attempts (69.6 percent) and has grabbed 10 offensive rebounds.

Shadeen Samuels – Samuels has been fantastic for Seton Hall in the early start to the year, contributing a team-best 17.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, along with 3.5 steals and 2.5 assists per game. In just 18 minutes against UTSA, Samuels was 9-of-11 from the floor and finished with 23 points. Last season, Princeton held her to just six points on 1-of-5 shooting.

Seton Hall's Offense – The Pirates have averaged almost 94 points to begin the 2018-19 campaign. They are shooting 49.5 percent and 36.1 percent from beyond the arc. In last year's game against the Tigers, the Pirates scored 83 points, the most by a Princeton opponent all season.

Young Tigers – Of the 11 players to have played for Princeton, eight of them are either sophomores or freshman. McKenna Haire, a sophomore, registered 13 points in the loss to George Washington, while Carlie Littlefield, a sophomore, is averaging 12 points in the team's two games so far, third on the squad. The Class of 2022 has snagged 23.5 points per game in Princeton's two meetings as well. Â
