With 21 x 2, Devin Cannady Earns Ivy, GPT Player of the Week Honor
November 26, 2018 | Men's Basketball
For the fourth time in his career, senior Devin Cannady has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week.
He is also the GoPrincetonTigers.com/Suburban Transit Athlete of the Week.
Cannady, in his first two games back from injury, scored 21 points apiece against Fairleigh Dickinson and Monmouth in what were his 17th and 18th 20-point games as a Tiger. It was the fourth time in his career that he's scored 20-plus in back-to-back games, along with two such occasions in his junior year and one as a rookie.
The 42 points moved him closer to overtaking 11th place on Princeton's all-time scoring list, now in 12th at 1,266 career points. He's 11 back of Gabe Lewullis '99 (1,277) and 26 back of Bud Haabestad '55 (1,292) for 10th. Cannady also moved closer to third on Princeton's 3-point list, now with 227 3s and eight behind Sean Jackson '92 (235).
Against Monmouth, Cannady scored 18 of his 21 points in the second half and 16 of those in the final seven minutes. He went 5-5 from the field in that span, including 4-4 from 3, and 2-2 from the line to help turn a six-point deficit into a three-point lead.
Cannady and the Tigers will head to Maine Wednesday for a 7 p.m. tip.
