Third-Ranked Princeton Welcomes Assistant Coach Hesham Aly, Heads North For Amherst/Williams Matches
November 29, 2018 | Women's Squash
Hesham Aly, who brings terrific international experience as both a player and coach, is in his first season as the assistant coach for the Princeton women's squash team. He has helped the third-ranked Tigers to an impressive 3-0 start, including a 7-2 win over fifth-ranked Stanford.
Aly, a former top-10 junior from Alexandria, Egypt, won three national league championships with his club program, and was a consistent member of the Egyptian junior national team. His 12 years of coaching experience prior to joining the Princeton staff included time with some of the top players in the sport, including Nour EL Sherbini.
He spent two years as the Director of the Squash Academy at the Alexandria Sporting Club before moving to the United States in 2017.
"It is an honor and privilege to join the Princeton Squash family," Aly said. "Gail is amazing. I have tremendous respect for her and the program she has built. I'm very excited and happy to be working with her and such great student athletes and can't wait to share my experience and help grow the program."
The Princeton women will head to Massachusetts this weekend to play a pair of top-20 programs, beginning Friday at 6 pm with a match at #16 Amherst. The Tigers will conclude the weekend with a 4 pm showdown against #13 Williams Saturday night, and then will return home to prepare for their 2018 home finale Tuesday night against #9 Drexel.
