Fillier Nets Two Goals as No. 10 Princeton Sweeps Quinnipiac After 4-1 Win
December 01, 2018 | Women's Ice Hockey
Freshman Sarah Fillier scored twice as No. 10 Princeton defeated Quinnipiac 4-1 on Saturday at People's United Center. The Tigers earn the weekend sweep of their travel partner, following a 3-2 win last night, and remain in first place in the ECAC Hockey standings with an unbeaten league mark of 6-0-2.
Quinnipiac (4-10-3, 3-4-1) took the lead converting on a power-play just seconds into it as Zoe Boyd fired in a goal from the right point.
Fillier drew the Tigers even with her lead off goal, an unbelievable effort as she toe dragged and then went bar down.
Â
Carly Bullock had a tremendous play to keep the puck in the zone and away from three defenders before firing the goal in on Abby Ives. Karlie Lund cleaned up the rebound to make it 2-1 at the end of the first period.
Â
Fillier notched her second with a snipe from inside the right face-off circle after Shannon Griffin poked the puck off a Bobcat stick behind the goal.
Â
Bullock pushed Princeton (7-2-3, 6-0-2) ahead 4-1 with her 10th goal of the season, going end to end for the tally.
Â
Sophomore Rachel McQuigge made 20 saves for the Tigers, while Ives stopped 35 for the Bobcats.
Princeton was 0 for 1 on the power play, Quinnipiac went 1 for 1.
Princeton takes on Rensselaer and Union next weekend, Dec. 7 & 8 in New York.
