Tigers Sweep Cornell On Senior Day, Prepare For Howe Cup
February 11, 2018 | Women's Squash
The Princeton women's squash team swept Cornell Sunday afternoon in the Jadwin Squash Courts to conclude the 2017-18 regular season and clinch the #2 seed for next weekend's Howe Cup Championships, which will be held at Harvard. The victory also completed a successful Senior Day for Princeton, which honored Olivia Fiechter, Kira Keating and Natalie Tung prior to the match.
Princeton took every match and dropped only three individual games during the final day of the season. Keating had one of the most exciting matches of the day, especially in her first game. Playing at the #6 spot, Keating went deep into extra points to score an 18-16 win over Madison Miles. She eventually led 2-1 and finished the match with an 11-9 win in the fourth. Fiechter had a much quicker Jadwin finale, as she topped Michele Garceau 11-4, 11-4, 11-6 to take her match.
Grace Doyle and Samantha Chai both dropped one game in their matches, but both took care of business in the fourth game to clinch their wins. Doyle was one of four freshmen in the starting lineup; she joined Raneem El Torky (2), Emme Leonard (5), and Mia Rosini (9) in winning efforts on a day to honor their senior mentors.
