Amir Bell and the four-man crew of Ivy League seniors won their pool at the 3X3U National Championship in San Antonio, but their run ended Sunday in the event's quarterfinals against the foursome from the Big West.
Bell, Penn seniors Darnell Foreman and Caleb Wood, and Dartmouth senior Miles Wright, beat the Atlantic 10 team 21-17 Friday and the Patriot League team 21-19 Saturday to win the pool and make it to the elimination round. Bell went 2 of 4 from the field and made his only try from deep in the win over the A-10 team, and he added three points in the win over the Patriot team.
The Big West took Sunday's quarterfinal 21-11, with Amir Bell leading the Ivy Leaguers with five points on 3 of 4 from the field and 2 of 3 from behind the arc. The Big West got out to an 11-3 lead, making seven of its first nine tries from the field, and the Ivies were never closer than six after that.
