The first game of a three-game series at Yale went to the Princeton softball team Friday afternoon as Allie Reynolds threw seven shutout innings and Mackenzie Meyer got the Tigers going with a two-run first-inning homer in a 5-0 win.

Meyer's two-out home run came three batters after a leadoff Megan Donahey walk for a 2-0 first-inning Tiger lead, giving the freshman Meyer her fourth home run of the season to stand three short of the program rookie record co-held by three players and reached most recently by teammate Kaylee Grant in 2016.

Princeton added to it in the fourth when Kylee Pierce led off the inning with a triple in the right-center gap and Danielle Dockx followed her with a groundout. The lead became 5-0 in the seventh on three hits and a sacrifice fly, with Grant getting the RBI-single and Joey Smith lofting the run-scoring flyout.

Allie Reynolds went the distance, giving up six hits and a walk while striking out two and retiring 11 straight batters from the second through fifth innings for her fourth win of the season. Francesca Casalino took the loss for Yale.
