Henderson Serves as Panelist at Coaches vs. Cancer Benefit
September 24, 2018 | Men's Basketball
Mitch Henderson, a board member of the American Cancer Society's Coaches vs. Cancer initiative, served on a panel with longtime basketball coaches Jim Calhoun and Pete Gillen on Sept. 24 at the Coaches vs. Cancer NYC Dinner Benefit at the JW Marriott Essex House in New York.
Calhoun and CBS Executive Vice President of of Sports Sales and Marketing John Bogusz were the evening's honorees with the late broadcaster Craig Sager's widow Stacy Sager and American Cancer Society Vice President of Corporate and Distinguished Sponsors Ruth Ann Dailey as special guests. Calhoun coached at Northeastern and Connecticut, guiding UConn to three NCAA titles, and recently re-entered the coaching ranks at the University of Saint Joseph in Connecticut. Gillen headed the programs at Xavier, Providence and Virginia before becoming a broadcaster with CBS Sports Network, most recently calling the Tigers' game at Butler that opened the 2017-18 season.
Henderson has been a regular participant in Coaches vs. Cancer efforts, including with the American Cancer Society's Cancer Action Network Lobby Day in 2015 and 2013, a local event in April 2013 to promote ACS's Cancer Prevention Study-3 initiative, and twice visiting the NASDAQ stock exchange with Coaches vs. Cancer, in 2013 and 2011.
The third-winningest coach in Princeton basketball history and the 2017 Ivy League Coach of the Year, Henderson is entering his eighth season leading the Tigers, a year that will tip on Nov. 9 in Jadwin Gym against DeSales.
