Davey's Overtime Goal Finishes Three-Goal Comeback at No. 2 Duke

A two-goal comeback against a conference rival is impressive.

Hannah Davey's goal at the 5:56 mark of overtime gave the No. 12 Princeton Tigers a 5-4 victory over the No. 2 Duke Blue Devils on Sunday afternoon.
It was the Tigers' fifth overtime game this season and second straight victory in the extra session. 14 of the Tigers' last 15 games have been decided by one-goal with Princeton securing 10 victories.
The first quarter was scoreless as the two squads combined for four shots. Princeton's best threat came with consecutive corners with four minutes left in the stanza, but the road unit's shots were blocked.
The Tigers recorded the first goal of the contest as Emma Street intercepted a pass right in front of the circle. She found Ali McCarthy, who got by a defender and whipped a shot into the cage.
Duke answered 68 seconds later. On a corner, Noor van de Laar deflected in a rebound shot from Margaux Paolino, evening the score at 1-all.
Five minutes later, the Blue Devils produced consecutive tallies 27 seconds apart. Leah Crouse recorded the first goal as she hit one in from four yards out. Van de Laar tapped in a shot from Olivia Sahaydak to snag Duke's third goal of the meeting.
Crouse tacked on Duke's fourth goal with 3:35 to go in the stanza. She dribbled around a defender and sent a ball from the middle of the circle in. The Tigers got one back as McCarthy touched through Davey's shot 90 seconds later.
After a scoreless first 15 minutes, the second frame featured a combined six goals and combined 11 shots.
MaryKate Neff kept the comeback alive as she touched in Sammy Popper's shot following a corner in the 40th minute.
Grace Brightbill, who started the second half, came up with two huge saves to open the fourth quarter as Duke had a corner.
With 2:11 remaining, Clara Roth brought the ball into the circle, but had her shot blocked.
Her next shot?
She didn't miss.
With 43 seconds left, Roth dribbled along the baseline and hit the ball in. It's her seventh goal of the season and gives her 26th in her career.
Princeton has now won four straight games and sits at 7-4 overall while Duke fell to 8-3 this season. The Tigers will host Columbia next Saturday at Bedford Field (1 p.m.).
