No. 7/7 Princeton Takes 6-2 Defeat to Harvard at Baker
November 08, 2019 | Women's Ice Hockey
Harvard got out to a three-goal lead after the first 20 minutes and stayed on top in a 6-2 win over the seventh-ranked Princeton women's hockey team Friday night at Baker Rink.
Kat Hughes, Anne Bloomer and Emma Buckles had the first-period goals for the Crimson, who stayed unbeaten at 4-0 overall and in the ECAC Hockey League. Princeton fell to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in league play with the loss.
Princeton cut into the lead midway through the second period when Sharon Frankel had her first goal of the season on a put-back, but Harvard pulled back in front by three just two minutes later on Bloomer's second goal.Â
Â
Dominique Petrie added Harvard's fifth goal on a power play less than five minutes into the third period.
Mariah Keopple had a rebound goal with five-plus minutes to play to make it 5-2, but as with Princeton's first goal, Harvard answered quickly, scoring just 28 seconds later to make it 6-2.
Â
Princeton was without Sarah Fillier and Claire Thompson for the game, as the two were competing with the Canadian national team outside Pittsburgh in the first of two exhibition games against the U.S., with the second to come Sunday. Fillier scored Canada's second goal Friday night in a 4-1 win.
The Tigers will wrap up the weekend hosting Dartmouth at Baker at 3 p.m.Â
