No. 8 Princeton Clinches Outright Ivy Title In 3-1 Victory Over Penn

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The No. 8 Princeton Tigers wrapped up a perfect Ivy season with a 3-1 takedown of the Penn Quakers at Ellen Vagelos Field on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Princeton clinched the outright Ivy League title, the 26th in program history. Having already earned the conference's bid, the Tigers will be appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the 25th time. The NCAA Selection Show will be tomorrow (Nov. 10) at 10 p.m. and can be seen on NCAA.com.

The Tigers' offense started quickly as a defensive save on an Ali McCarthy shot kept the game scoreless in the sixth minute.

Penn got on the board on a tipped shot at the 10:52 mark as Erin Kelly tapped in a ball from Gracyn Banks.

It took less than a minute for Princeton to respond.

Emma Street whipped in a shot on a corner that got through for her first tally of the season.

The second period was a scoreless affair, leading the game to be tied at halftime. The Quakers held a 6-4 shot advantage. Grace Baylis was forced to make three saves in the first 30 minutes of action.

Princeton took the lead early in the second half as Taylor Nolan touched in a long pass from McCarthy.

Penn pulled its goalie with under five minutes remaining and Clara Roth finally broke through with a goal with 22 seconds to go to put the game away.

Princeton finished with 11 shots in the game, compared to Penn's eight and had five more corners (8-3).
