The second-ranked Princeton women's squash team has a pair of goals for this coming weekend. The Tigers will try to keep that #2 spot for the Howe Cup team championships, which will take place Feb. 22-24 at Trinity, and they will try to send out their seniors with a final winning memory at the Jadwin Squash Courts.
Princeton (10-1, 4-1 Ivy League) will host seventh-ranked Columbia Friday at 7:30 pm, following the men's match against Columbia, and then will head to Cornell Sunday for a noon showdown against the 11th-ranked Big Red. Should the Tigers sweep the weekend, they will be assured the #2 seed for the Howe Cup, and would likely get a rematch with Columbia during the quarterfinal round.
The Tigers suffered their first loss of the season last weekend to #1 Harvard, but they bounced back impressively during a sweep of Dartmouth. Every Princeton player swept their Sunday matches 3-0, and they will be looking for similar results this weekend against a pair of Ivy rivals from New York.
Princeton will be especially hopeful to send out its senior quartet of Samantha Chai, Kate Feeley, Isabel Hirshberg and Camille Price with a perfect final weekend, and especially a win in Friday's home finale. Those four players have accounted for over 125 individual wins over the last four years, and they helped Princeton to the semifinal round of the Howe Cup Championships in each of the last three years.
