Daniels Wins and Chastulik PRs as Princeton Wraps UNF Invite

Princeton wrapped up Day 2 of the University of North Florida Spring Break Invitational this evening at Hodges Field, a location many of the Tigers hope they can return to in a couple months - the site of the 2019 NCAA East Regional Championship.
Sophomore Kelton Chastulik had a PR in the shot put with a 17.76 (58-3.25) on his final attempt this afternoon. He started with a 16.94 that gave him the lead and improved to 17.22 on his second attempt. His big throw came on his sixth attempt. The 17.76 is the eight best throw in Princeton history.

Freshman C.J. Licata was fourth in the shot at 17.58 (57-8.25) on his final attempt. He also had throws of 16.69, 17.31, 16.94, 17.27. Licata was also fifth in the discus with a throw of 47.96 (157-4). He opened with a 45.59 before his best throw came on his second attempt.

A day after winning the hammer throw, senior Adam Kelly PR'ed in the shot with a 14.40 (47-3), finishing just behind freshman Connor Scaglione and his 14.57 (47-9.75).

Sophomore Jeffrey Hollis was the runner-up in the high jump with a height of 2.07 (6-9.5). He passed on the opening three heights before clearing 1.97, 2.02 and then 2.07. Senior Andrew Diehl was seventh a with a clearance of 2.02 (6-7.5).

Also finishing in second place was junior Jesse Thibodeau in the long jump. Thibodeau who was third in the Ivy Heps in this event this past indoor season, leapt to a 7.34 (24-1) on his fifth attempt to take second place today. Freshman Andrei Iosivas was fourth matching his PR of  6.98 (22-10.75) and classmate Dayo Abeeb hit a PR of 6.79 (22-.35).

Junior Joey Daniels was the only hurdler to clock under 14 in the 110-meter hurdles as he won the event with a 13.90, just off of his personal best of 13.80. Freshman Christian Brown was sixth at 14.53 and classmate Taraje Whitfield clocked 14.91. Whitfield was took eighth place in  the 400 hurdles at 54.78. Junior Gab Montefalcone won the 400 hurdles at a PR of 52.66, shaving two hundredths of a second off his previous best that gave him third place in the Ivy Heps last spring.

In the flat 400, freshman Michael Phillippy clocked 48.29 for fifth place.

Freshman sprinter Greg Sholars posted the top times for the Tigers in both the 100 and 200 with a 10.88 and 21.80.

In the final event of the day, the 4x400 relay of junior Justice Dixon, senior Cole Bransford, junior Connor Matthews and Phillippy was third with a time of 3:15.81.

Princeton will send a select contingent to the Stanford Invitational next weekend, March 29-30 before hosting the Sam Howell Invitational on April 5-6.
