Princeton Puts Up a Number of PRs to Open Outdoor Season

Day 1 Recap l Results
The Tigers started off the season where they hope they will be in just a few months time - at the site of the NCAA East Regional. Hodges Stadium at the University of North Florida played host the the Spring Break Invitational this weekend.
A first-team All-American in the discus, sophomore Obiageri Amaechi showed she is ready for another big year in the event. She threw a 55.16 (180-11) on her very first attempt today, which won her the event. The mark is the fourth best throw in the nation in the early going of the outdoor season.
Sophomore Julia Harisay was fifth in the discus at 42.89 (140-8) just shy of her PR and also placed 10th in the shot put with a 12.67 (41-7) coming on her second attempt. Freshman Jalah Morris was eighth in the discus at 41.93 (137-6)
Junior Hadley Wilhoite was just inches off her PR in the high jump this afternoon. She cleared 1.62 (5-2.75) on her first attempt at that height to finish tied for sixth place.
Three Tigers finished in the top 10 of the women's triple jump with senior Kerri Davidson leading the way. She finished third with an 11.97 (39-3.25) on her sixth attempt. She was 37 feet on all of her attempts today. Sophomore Kara Steele was fourth at 11.91 (39-1) and classmate Katie Barnett was seventh at 11.45 (37-6.75) coming on her third attempt.
Princeton outlook in the 100 hurdles looks excellent as freshman Isabella Hilditch clocked a 13.81, the third fastest time in Princeton history. Senior Ellie Randolph was right behind with a 14.10.
Senior Carly Bonnet posted a 1:02.02 to finish in sixth place in the 400-meter hurdles.
Princeton had four in the top 10 of the 800 with junior Alie Fordyce leading the pack with a PR of 2:11.09, shaving a tenth of a second off her previous best time. Senior Madison Offstein took fifth place at 2:11.69, followed by Gillian Wagner at 2:12.40 and sophomore Sophie Cantine at 2:12.97.
Princeton sent two groups out to run the 4x400 relay. Jackie Berardo, Fordyce, Cantine and Wagner put up the best time at 3:53.93. Ashley Willingham, Heide Baron, Devon Block-Funkhouser and Bonnet weren't far behind at 4:00.65.
Senior Allie Klimkiewicz ran a PR in the steeplechase as she took second place in the event. Her time of 10:30.07 is nearly three seconds faster than her PR run last year and is the ninth best time in Princeton history.
Four Tigers finished in the top eight in the 1500 meters, led by senior Anna Jurew and her PR time of 4:27.94 – which is almost six seconds better than her PR, from the 2017 season. Offstein clocked 4:34.27 for fifth place, senior Brighie Leach was sixth at 4:34.81 and sophomore Sierra Castaneda was eighth at 4:35.60.
Next weekend the Tigers will send select groups to the Raleigh Relays at NC State and to the Florida Relays at University of Florida.
