Princeton and Rider Battle At Clarke Field Wednesday

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers welcome the Rider Broncs to Clarke Field for a non-conference matchup on Wednesday (Apr. 17). First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
Princeton is 7-21 overall and 4-8 in the Ivy League this season, recently losing two of three to the Penn Quakers on the road. Princeton took game three of the series, 7-2, behind a seven-run second inning. Andrew Gnazzo earned his third victory of the season, going six innings, scattering five hits.
With hits in 12 of his last 13 games, Max West leads the team with .318 average. The senior catcher is tied for the team-high in RBI (17) and has produced a solid .404 on-base percentage. Princeton has four other starters hitting at least .250 in Jake Boone (.298), Chris Davis (.296) and Nadir Lewis (.277). Davis's .452 slugging percentage leads the squad as he's produced 13 extra-base hits.
After his second complete game of the season on Saturday, James Proctor lowered his ERA to 3.72. He's struck 44 in 36 1/3 innings. Ryan Smith is not far behind with a 4.06 ERA in 44 1/3 frames along with 49 strikeouts. Trey Ramsey has been one of the best relievers for the Tigers, securing a 2.16 ERA in six appearances.
Rider is 13-22 in 2019 with wins over Butler, La Salle, Richmond, UC Riverside, LIU Brooklyn, Niagara, NJIT, Saint Peter's, Seton Hall and Iona. Riley Mihalik has been tremendous this season for the Broncs with a .320/.412/.578 slash line. His average and slugging percentage lead the squad as do his 16 extra-base knocks and 30 RBI. Mike Ionta is also hitting .300, adding 16 walks and 13 RBI. Pete Soporowski has been the best pitcher for Rider, putting up a 2.64 ERA in 47 2/3 stanzas.
Following this contest, the Tigers travel to Ithaca for a series at Cornell (Apr. 20-21).
