No. 12 Princeton to Head to North Carolina for Pair of Top-20 Battles
January 08, 2020 | Wrestling
No. 12 Princeton has only faced fellow top-25 teams in its dual matches so far, and that won't change this weekend as the Tigers head to No. 17 North Carolina Friday and No. 6 North Carolina State Saturday.

The series history is limited, aside from Princeton's 23-16 win over North Carolina last season in Jadwin. Princeton is 2-1 all-time against the Tar Heels with the first two meetings occurring in the 1929-30 and 1930-31 seasons. Princeton's only two meetings with N.C. State were in the 1976-77 and 1977-78 seasons, both Princeton wins.
In the Jan. 11, 2019 win over UNC, Patrick Glory, Marshall Keller, Travis Stefanik and Patrick Brucki were the four current Tigers who contributed to Princeton's five wins, along with Matthew Kolodzik. Quincy Monday and Kevin Parker are this year's other dual-meet regulars who were in last year's match, with both of their contests coming down to decision in favor of UNC.
Though they don't figure to go head-to-head, with Quincy Monday at 157 for Princeton and Kennedy Monday at 165 for UNC, Friday's match will reunite the Monday brothers, both ranked with Quincy at No. 5 by Intermat and Kennedy at No. 17.
Among the possible head-to-head Intermat-ranked battles are at 149, with Princeton's No. 15 Mike D'Angelo against UNC's No. 2 Austin O'Connor, at 157 with Princeton's No. 5 Quincy Monday against UNC's No. 20 A.C. Headlee and N.C. State's No. 2 Hayden Hidlay, and at 197 with Princeton's No. 3 Patrick Brucki against N.C. State's No. 8 Nick Reenan.
The matches are the last for the Tigers before the break for first-semester finals and before Ivy League play, which will begin Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 with a trip to Harvard and Brown.
