Aririguzoh ’20 Named One of The Trentonian SportsPersons of the Year

TRENTON, N.J. – The Trentonian recently named its 2020 SportsPerson of the Year and Princeton University men's basketball's Richmond Aririguzoh '20 shared the award with Myles Powell, of Seton Hall University.
In November, Aririguzoh signed his first professional contract with Horsens Idræts Club Basketball of the Basketligaen, the highest level of professional basketball in Denmark. Through five games, he has averaged 9.6 points on a .613 shooting percentage, 6.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per games.
Aririguzoh earned his second all-conference honor in 2019-20, as he was named first-team All-Ivy League. Starting all 27 games, he averaged 12.0 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while shooting .617 percent from the field, which ranked second in the Ivy League and eighth all-time in school history. Aririguzoh led the Ivy League in offensive rebounds and offensive rebounds per game, recording 77 total and 2.9 per game. On the season, he scored in double figures 19 times and recorded five double-doubles.
Known for stepping up in the clutch, Aririguzoh drained the game-winning free throws in Princeton's 70-69 win over Harvard University on Saturday, February 1, 2020.
Aririguzoh produced a historic rebounding performance against Arizona State University on Tuesday, November 26, 2019. He finished with 18 rebounds, which was the most by a Princeton player since Mason Rocca '00 against Georgetown University on Wednesday, March 3, 1999. No Princeton player has had more than 18 rebounds since Bob Roma '79 had 19 rebounds against Villanova University on Tuesday, December 12, 1978.
He led the nation in true shooting percentage (.721 percent) in and was named to the Ivy League All-Tournament Team in 2018-19. His career field goal percentage of .636 ranks second all-time in school history, while he also holds the second-highest single season shooting percentage in school history when he shot .693 percent in 2018-19. Aririguzoh also knocked down the game-winning free throws against No. 17 Arizona State University in the Tigers' 67-66 win on Saturday, December 29, 2019. He ended his career as a Tiger with 755 points, 437 rebounds, 117 assists and 53 blocks.
Along with his individual accolades, Aririguzoh was also part of the Tigers' 2016-17 team that went 14-0 in Ivy League play, won the Ivy League title and made it to the NCAA Tournament.
