Men’s Track & Field Set For HYP Meet

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's track & field team will search for its 28th-consecutive HYP Crown Saturday in New Haven, Connecticut, when it takes on Harvard University and Yale University.
The meet, held at Coxe Cage on the campus of Yale, is being contested for the 66th time. Field events will begin at 12 p.m. and track events at 2:30 p.m.
Tiger Notes
Several Tigers have produced Ivy-best performances this season. Sam Ellis time of 2:24.53 seconds in the 1,000 meters tops the conference while Jeffrey Hollis' mark of 2.19 meters in the high jump is an Ivy League-best. C.J. Licata's mark of 18.97 meters in the shot put leads the Ivy League by over a meter.
Princeton most recently competed at the Crimson Elite on January 31 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Several Tigers delivered strong performances, including Michael Phillippy who PR'd in the 400 meters with a time of 48.43 to win the event and top his previous best time of 48.87.
Simang'aliso Ndhlovu continued to round into form, finishing second in the 60 meters in 6.82. Simen Guttormsen won the pole vault after he cleared 5.25 meters while also having great, close attempts at 5.35 meters. Austin Princewill and Dayo Abeeb were competed in their first triple jump meets of the year. They finished first and second with jumps of 15.30 meters and 15.28 meters.
Last Year at the HYP Meet
Princeton earned a resounding victory at last season's HYP Meet. The Tigers (119) outscored Yale (47) by 72 and Harvard (15) by 104, earning at least three points in every event.
Notes on the Opposition
The Crimson most recently competed at the Scarlet & White Meet on Saturday, February 1 and prior to that the Crimson Elite on Friday, January 31. In 2018-19, the Crimson finished third at Heps with 103 points.
The Bulldogs most recently competed at the Harvard Elite Meet on Friday, January 31. Prior to that Yale competed at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Saturday, January 25 and picked up a pair of Ivy League wins over Dartmouth College and Columbia University on Saturday, January 18. At Heps in 2018-19 Yale scored 30 points and finished eighth.

The Tigers will compete at both the Fasttrack Invitational and the Valentine Invitational on Saturday, February 15.
