NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Princeton University men's track & field team continued its HYP dominance Saturday inside Coxe Cage, winning the meet for the 28th-consecutive season
The Tigers finished with 89 points to 63 by Yale University and 28 by Harvard University.
"All in all it was a tremendous team effort for us across the board as we march toward our sixth league championship in a row," said William J. Weaver '34 Head Coach of Men's Track & Field Fred Samara. "I'm very proud of the competitive effort and our team spirit."
Several Tigers delivered standout performances, including Simen Guttormsen in the pole vault who cleared and all-time PR and Ivy League-leading mark of 17'5''. He topped his previous PR of 17'2.75'' set at both the Crimson Elite Invitational and the Columbia Challenge on Saturday, January 25.
Like Guttormsen, Sam Ellis also produced an Ivy League-leading result. Along with winning the 1,000 meters, his time of 2:22.26 seconds was a conference-best and a new PR, besting his previous PR of 2:24.60 seconds set in 2018 at the Valentine Invitational.
Michael Phillippy ran a perfectly executed race in the 400 meters, clocking in at 48.15. His previous PR was 48.43 set at the Crimson Elite Invite on Friday, January 31.
Princeton also earned the one-two finish in the shot put thanks to C.J. Licata and Kelton Chastulik; Licata hit a mark of 58'10.75" and Chastulik 56'5.25".
Dayo Abeeb and Austin Princewill also performed strongly in the triple jump, finishing first and second. Abeeb's jump was 50'9.5" and Princewill's 49'9.75". Both had close fouls in excess of the school record, indicating great things to come for the duo.
