Top-10 time, again: This weekend's games will be the fourth and fifth of the new season against top-10 opponents for the Tigers, along with the home-and-home against No. 8 Quinnipiac on Nov. 12-13 and the visit to No. 5 Colgate on Nov. 19. Northeastern holds the No. 4 ranking in the USA Hockey Magazine/USA Today and USCHO.com polls.
The series with Northeastern: In March 2020, Northeastern was due to become Princeton's first NCAA tournament opponent not named Minnesota, but the pandemic canceled the NCAA tournament. Among games the teams did get to play, Northeastern leads the all-time series 26-12-2, and the teams haven't met since 2011. Princeton's last win in the series came in Princeton in 2011, the last time the teams met.
Kazmaier connection: Northeastern netminder Aerin Frankel would become the first reigning Patty Kazmaier winner to face Princeton at Baker. The award is named for Princeton alum Patty Kazmaier '86, who passed away due to illness in 1990.
Vintage homes: It'll be a matchup of the teams with the two oldest arenas currently in use in Division I, with Hobey Baker Rink opening in 1923 and Northeastern's Matthews Arena opening in 1910.
Milestone ahead: Junior Maggie Connors is two points away from 100 for her career. While that would make her the only current Tiger to reach the century mark, her former teammate Carly Bullock '20 was the most recent Tiger to hit the number, finishing sixth on Princeton's career list with 159 points.
An historic season: In 2019-20, Princeton set program records for wins (26), points (305) and assists (183), and had the second-most goals in a season, at 122, behind only the 135 scored in thee 1983-84 season
Firsts: Eight games into the season, four Tigers have scored their first goals as Tigers in freshmen Sarah Paul, Mia Coene, Dominique Cormier and Ellie Marcovsky. The first-timers represent four of Princeton's eight goal scorers so far on the season.
Program record: Senior Rachel McQuigge has a 1.28 GAA so far this season and has a 1.66 GAA for her career entering the weekend. Princeton's program record for career GAA for goalies who were regular starters is 1.70, held by Roxanne Gaudiel '06. McQuigge already holds the single-season record for best GAA among starters, at 1.51 from the 2019-20 season. McQuigge could also achieve the program's best save percentage in a career by a a regular starter, held by former teammate Stephanie Neatby '20 at .933, standing at .935 entering the weekend. McQuigge is also closing in on 1,000 career saves, something that eight previous Tiger netminders, most recently Neatby, have done, making 909 career stops entering the weekend.
Olympic dreams: Princeton is without Sarah Fillier this season as she aims to help Canada pursue Olympic gold. Fillier, who would return as a junior, is with former Tiger teammate Claire Thompson '20 in pursuit of a spot on the Canadian roster, which is expected to be announced in December.
