Simen Guttormsen Sets Ivy Record in Pole Vault at Joe Handelman Invite

Princeton, N.J. – The Princeton University men's track and field team put on a brilliant display at the Joe Handelman Invitational inside Jadwin Gymnasium.
The Tigers had three school all-time top-10 performances, including one Ivy League record.
Simen Guttormsen set the Ivy League record in the pole vault, traveling a distance of 5.50 meters in the air. The previous record of 5.46 meters had been set by Cornell's Grant Sisserson in 2015. Simen Guttormsen's mark is second all-time in Princeton history, behind his brother Sondre Guttormsen, who traveled 5.74 meters in Norway this past year.
Also competing in the pole vault was Simen's brother Sondre (5.35m) and Philip Kastner (4.20m), who finished second and third respectively.
Daniel Duncan set the school record in the 60 meters, clocking in at a blazing 6.71 seconds and besting his PR of 6.74. Duncan's mark beats the previous record held by Carrington Akosa by one one-hundredth of a second and is the second fastest time in the Ivy League.
Simang'aliso Ndhlovu also raced in to 60 meters, securing second place with a time of 6.76 seconds.
Finally, while C.J. Licata remains second all-time in the shotput, he bested his previous throw of 18.97 meters with a toss of 19.09 meters.
The Tigers dominated the high jump, finishing one-two-three. Jeffrey Hollis took first place with a distance of 2.08 meters, followed by John Hogan (2.00m) in second and Philip Kastner (1.95m) in third.
Princeton continued its success, finishing one-two in three more events. In the weight throw, William Cauley (17.32m) edged out Paul Brennan (17.02m). In the long jump, Aviram Shwarzbard (7.32m) outleaped Austin Princewill (6.26m). Finally, Jovan Aigbekaen (8.24 seconds) finished ahead of Chris Paige (8.48 seconds) in the 60-meter hurdles.
Wrapping up the Joe Handelman Invitational, Ilay Furman earned first place in the triple jump with a distance of 13.82 meters, while the 4x400 meter relay team featuring Ladislav Töpfer, Klaudio Gjetja, William Doyle, Michael Phillippy placed first with a time of 3:16.58.
