Tigers Outshoot Providence as Friars Make Lone Goal Stand
December 03, 2021 | Women's Ice Hockey
A second-period goal from Providence's Sara Hjalmarsson was the only one of the game as the Princeton women's hockey team outshot the Friars overall and on goal, but the home team held on for the 1-0 win in the first of back-to-back games on the weekend in the Ocean State.
Princeton won the shot total 66-59 overall and 34-29 on goal as reigning ECAC Hockey/MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Month Rachel McQuigge stopped 28 of 29 shots on the afternoon.
Hjalmarsson's goal came on the power play as Providence converted on one of its three player-advantage chances. The Friars sent a player to the box just once on the day.
The teams will play again on Saturday back at Providence's Schneider Arena in a 4 p.m. start.
