Five Double Figure Scorers Power Men’s Basketball Past Brown

PRINCETON, N.J. – With assistance from five players in double figures, the Princeton University men's basketball team moved to 3-0 in Ivy League play with a 76-74 triumph over Brown University, Saturday afternoon inside Jadwin Gymnasium.
The victory was the Tigers' eighth-consecutive, and also saw Princeton move to 10-0 at home in 2021-22.
Junior Tosan Evbuomwan led the way for Princeton with a team-high 21 points on 7-for-9 shooting, a game and career-high tying eight assists, and tied for the game-high in steals with three. Junior Ryan Langborg added 15 points on 5-for-8 shooting and tied his career-best with seven rebounds, while senior Drew Friberg went 5-for-10 from beyond the arc to finish with 15 points. Senior Ethan Wright had 13 points, five rebounds, and tied the game-high in steals with three; sophomore Matt Allocco rounded out Princeton's double figure scorers, adding 10 points, a career-high six rebounds and a career-high three assists.
As a team, Princeton shot an efficient 26-for-48 (54.2%) from the field, and went 11-for-25 (44.0%) from behind the three-point line. The Tigers also won the rebounding battle, 26-24.
Friberg started the game off hot from beyond the arc, going 3-for-3 to give the Tigers an 11-6 advantage with 14:39 on the clock. A three-pointer from the top of the arc by Wright with 11:16 left in the half kept Princeton in front, 18-16, but the Bears would then use a 7-0 run to surge ahead, 23-18, at 9:28.
The Tigers immediately took the lead in the second half, scoring the opening two baskets and jumping ahead 45-42 following a Langborg layup with 18:24 remaining. Back-to-back threes by Friberg and Langborg gave Princeton a 56-50 lead with 14:01 on the clock, but Brown narrowed the margin to one at 56-55, with 11:30 remaining.
Evbuomwan completed a three-point play, giving Princeton a 59-57 advantage, with 10:32 left to play, then a deep Allocco three kept the Tigers in front by a point with 7:00 on the clock, 63-62. Brown then tied it up, 66-66, but Evbuomwan knocked down a pair of free throws with 4:53 left to play to put the Tigers back in front, 68-66.

A deep three-pointer by Langborg knotted the score at 23-23 with 8:03 remaining in the half, then a Wright triple from two steps behind the line saw the Tigers take a 31-27 lead at 5:33.
