Men's Cross Country Seeking to Defend Championship Title at Heps on Friday

Following a great performance at the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America (IC4A) Championship, the Princeton Men's cross-country team will be returning to Van Cortlandt Park to compete in the 2022 Ivy League Heptagonal Cross-Country Championships on Friday, and working to defend their 2021 Championship title.

The IC4A Championship gave the men's squad a great opportunity to become familiar with the course's terrain, located in the Bronx, in New York City.

The Tigers are hoping for another great outcome on Friday alongside other, top performers within the Ivy League. The Princeton men are one of two Ivy League programs to be nationally ranked this season.

The Princeton men are currently ranked inside the Top-20, and earlier this year the Harvard men were ranked as high as 11^th.

Last year, the men's team was named Ivy League Champions for the 22^ndtime in program history after finishing five in the Top-nine at West Windsor Fields.

Anthony Monte had an impressive Heps debut last year finishing in sixth, and was named First Team All-Ivy.

Princeton returners, Matthew Farrell , Nicholas Bendtsen, and Josh Zelek were also all named second team All-Ivy in 2021.

"The Ivy League title means a great deal to our program and so far, this year we have had excellent preparation," said head coach Jason Vigilante. "I'm thankful for all the support from our training staff, our facilities crew, Coach Reyes, our strength coach, the administration and many others that have helped us to be in a position to represent Princeton on Friday. I have faith our men will fight with spirit and make our supporters proud."

The men are scheduled to hit the 8k course at 12 pm after the women's 6k race at 11 am.
