PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's basketball team's non-conference slate continues in Poughkeepsie, New York, on Saturday, November 19, at 7:00 p.m. when it takes on Marist.
Last Time Out
Powered by a red hot shooting night and a 14-0 run in the first half, the Princeton University men's basketball team earned a 94-64 victory over UMBC Monday night inside Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena.
The Tigers shot 12-for-19 (63.2%) from behind the three-point line, and 37-for-65 (63.2%) from the field, got 38 points off the bench and dominated inside, scoring 48 points in the paint to 28 by the Retrievers.
Junior Matt Allocco led the game in scoring with 18 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the field and 3-for-5 shooting from three, while also tying the game-high in rebounds with seven and handing out three assists. Senior Tosan Evbuomwan added 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists, and senior Keeshawn Kellman went 5-for-9 from the field for 12 points, while adding five rebounds and a career-high four assists.
A Historic Performance
The victory was Princeton's most lopsided road win since it defeated Hampton, 89-59, on Sunday, January 3, 2016. It also marked the first time the Tigers scored 94 in regulation on the road since Tuesday, March 13, 2012, when it they scored 95 points at Evansville.
Dominant Inside
Kellman has been a force inside for the Tigers so far in 2022, averaging 17.7 points on 74.2% shooting from the field, along with 5.0 rebounds. He has also handed out five assists and blocked four shots.
The 2022 Ivy League Player of the Year
Evbuomwan has gotten off to a strong start in 2022, averaging 18.0 points on 52.5% shooting and 7.7 rebounds. Evbuowman has also tallied 11 assists, three blocks and two steals.
Leading the Way
Allocco's leadership and on-court contributions have been signigicant for the Tigers; he's averaging 14.0 points on 59.3% shooting from the field and 50.0% shooting from three, along with 7.3 rebounds. He's also handed out eight assists.
A Career Night For Peters
Sophomore Blake Peters was a spark off the bench for the Tigers against UMBC, scoring 11 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the field 3-for-4 shooting from three, while also pulling down four rebounds.
Freshmen Stepping Up
Against UMBC, Deven Austin gave Princeton valuable minutes as he finished with nine points on 4-for-7 shooting and pulled down three rebounds. Jack Scott also made the most of his opportunities, shooting a perfect 3-for-3 and scoring seven points.
Last Time vs. Marist
Buoyed by four double-digit scorers and 13 made three-pointers, the Princeton University men's basketball team downed Marist College, 80-61, Wednesday night inside Jadwin Gymnasium.
As a team, Princeton shot a scintillating 53.7 percent from the field, going 29-for-54. The Tigers also went 13-for-28 from behind the three-point line for 46.4 percent, and 9-for-11 from the free throw line.
Senior Jaelin Llewellyn led the way with 17 points, four rebounds, and two assists, while senior Ethan Wright went 5-for-7 from the field and 3-for-4 form beyond the arc for 15 points, and a game-high eight rebounds. Junior Ryan Langborg added a career-high 14 points, on 5-for-6 shooting from the field, and 4-for-5 shooting from three. Kellman also made in impact in his first career start, scoring 11 points on 5-for-5 shooting, hauling in four rebounds, and blocking two shots.
