Men’s Basketball Opens NIT Play at No. 3 Seed VCU

INDIANAPOLIS – The Princeton University men's basketball team is headed to the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) for the seventh time in program history, opening against No. 3 seed Virginia Commonwealth University (21-9) on Tuesday, March 15, in Richmond, Virginia.
It will be Princeton's first appearance in the NIT since 2016, and the second appearance under Head Coach Mitch Henderson. Princeton also made the NIT in 2002, 2000, 1999, 1975, and 1972. The Tigers won the event in 1975, defeating Providence College in the Championship Game at Madison Square Garden, 80-69.
2021-22 saw the Tigers win the Ivy League Regular Season Championship, earn a 23-6 record overall, a 12-2 record in Ivy play, and defeat a pair of power five schools in South Carolina and Oregon State.
