Caden Pierce Honored as Ivy League Rookie of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Ivy League announced it weekly awards Monday afternoon, and freshman Caden Pierce of the Princeton University men's basketball team was honored as Rookie of the Week after helping the Tigers earn the weekend sweep and move to 3-0 in conference play.

Pierce averaged 9.0 points and a team-high 10.5 rebounds per game in the Tigers' two games, a 68-49 win over Columbia on Friday, January 6, inside Levien Gymnasium and a 75-68 triumph over Cornell inside Newman Arena on Saturday, January 7.

In Princeton's victory over the Big Red, Pierce recorded a double-double with a career-high 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting, a game and career-high 13 rebounds and one assist. Pierce's five made goals and his 11 defensive rebounds were also career-highs.

Against Columbia, he finished with a game-high eight rebounds, one block, and one steal.

Pierce is the second Tiger to earn Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors in 2022-23, as freshman Xaivian Lee was tabbed with the conference's top weekly honor for newcomers on Monday, November 28.
