In the Rankings: Princeton is No. 15 in the USCHO poll this week while no new USA Hockey poll was released this week. Princeton was No. 14 in last week's USA Hockey poll.
Team Effort: Princeton has seen seven players score goals over the first three weekends with Sarah Fillier in a familiar spot atop the stats list at a team-best five goals and seven points. Already, 15 Tigers have scored a point, just three short of the 18 players who scored a point in all of last season.
Fillier Climbs the Charts: Sarah Fillier has one more season to further cement her place in the Princeton record books. Her 158 career points stand seventh, one back of former teammate Carly Bullock '20 for sixth, and a stand-alone fourth-place position is 19 points away. With 42 points, she'd become the fourth player in program history with 200 career points, and Katherine Issel '95 holds the record at 218. Fillier's 68 career goals are 15th, and with 28 more goals, she'd become Princeton's highest-scoring player of this century, surpassing former teammate Maggie Connors '23 (78), Gretchen Anderson '04 (87) and Bullock (95). Kelly O'Dell '84 holds the record at 121 and is one of three players in program history to score 100 goals. Fillier's 90 assists are fourth all-time, and stand-alone second place is seven assists away. With 10 more assists, Fillier would join record holder Issel (121) as the only players in program history with 100 career assists.
The Staff: Head coach Cara Morey is back for her seventh overall year and sixth competitive season (2020-21 lost to the pandemic) leading the program. Her 91 career wins are second-most in program history to predecessor Jeff Kampersal '92 (327). With nine more wins, Morey would become the second Princeton women's hockey coach and sixth hockey coach between the men's and women's programs to reach 100 wins. The four men's coaches who have reached 100 are Richard Vaughan (158 from 1935-59), Jim Higgins (130 from 1977-91), Don Cahoon (122 from 1991-2000), and Guy Gadowsky (105 from 2004-11). Along with Dan Gould, who returns and coaches the goaltenders, Morey has two new assistant coaches in Jamie Lundmark, who played professionally from 2001-18 including parts of six seasons in the NHL with the Rangers, Coyotes, Flames, Kings and Maple Leafs, and Melissa Samoskevich, who stands among the highest-scoring players in Quinnipiac history after graduating in 2019.
Series History: Harvard leads the all-time series 53-38-6 overall, but Princeton leads 19-10-4 at Baker Rink. Princeton has won three straight against the Crimson, sweeping both games last year after taking two out of three in the 2022 ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series to become the first eighth seed in event history to win a three-game series against the top seed. Princeton leads the all-time series with Dartmouth 53-32-6 overall and 26-11-6 in Princeton. The win streak against the Big Green stands at 11 games overall and six straight at Baker. Dartmouth's last win in the series was in 2016 in Hanover, and the last non-win for Princeton at Baker was in 2015. The Tigers haven't lost at home to the Big Green since 2012, going 7-0-1 since.
Tiger on the Bench: Dartmouth coach Liz Keady Norton is a 2008 Princeton alumna who was a second-team All-Ivy and an honorable mention All-ECAC Hockey honoree in 2005, co-captaining the team as a senior in 2007-08.
On Harvard and Dartmouth: The Crimson are 0-5 to start the season, but three of the losses were by one goal and the other two losses were by two goals. Seven players have split the team's nine goals this season with Shannon Hollands and Gabi Davidson Adams co-leading the team with two goals each. Alex Pellicci has played every minute in goal, accruing a 3.27 GAA. At 2-3-1 on the season, Dartmouth enters the weekend looking to snap a four-game winless skid, aiming to do that at Quinnipiac on Friday night before continuing on to Princeton. Eleanor Rogers has played every minute in goal, accruing a 4.09 GAA.
Stat Rankings: Princeton entered the week leading the nation with a .621 faceoff win percentage, paced by Sarah Fillier's 14th-best 105 faceoff wins. Fillier's 0.83 goals per game stands 10th while her two power-play goals are 11th. Uma Corniea's 1.421 GAA stands 11th and her .941 save percentage stands 12th. Harvard's best ranking is 13th in power-play percentage, scoring 20 percent of the time, and its best individual ranking is 32nd in assists per game with Zoe Boosamra at 0.75. Dartmouth's best ranking is also in power-play percentage, at a 16th-best 19 percent scoring rare. Cally Dixon has three power-play goals, good for fourth natioanlly, and Jenna Donahue's two game-winning goals stand sixth.
