November 04, 2023 | Women's Ice Hockey
Four third-period goals allowed the No. 15/14-ranked Princeton women's hockey team to rally past and pull away from Dartmouth to wrap an unbeaten ECAC Hockey weekend at Baker Rink on Saturday afternoon.
Dartmouth opened the scoring with an Izee Powell goal less than four minutes into the second period, but Princeton answered just 80 seconds later when Maggie Johnson turned aside a Dartmouth clearing attempt and Sarah Paul picked up the loose puck, firing it home from the top of the slot.
Dartmouth retook the lead with what became its final goal when Shae Messner cashed in on a 5-on-3 advantage with seven-plus minutes left in the frame.
Then came the big third period for Princeton. Issy Wunder jammed home a power-play goal to tie it less than two minutes into the third, and Jane Kuehl threaded a shot home as she moved toward the slot with less than eight minutes gone in the third to give Princeton its first lead of the game.
With seven-plus minutes to go, it was older sister Annie Kuehl getting the goal, putting home a rebound on a shot that Emma Dornseif put toward goal and Jane Kuehl deflected along the way, giving Princeton a 4-2 lead.
Princeton's fifth goal came from Maggie Johnson as the rookie scored for the first time in her Tiger career, threading one through the slot with less than two minutes to go.
Princeton outshot Dartmouth 70-41 overall and 36-27 on goal. Jennifer Olnowich made 25 saves in the win.
The Tigers will step away from ECAC Hockey play next weekend, hosting Mercyhurst for a pair.
