Fillier's Hat Trick Highlights No. 12 Princeton's Win at LIU
December 05, 2023 | Women's Ice Hockey
Sarah Fillier's hat trick, two goals from Sarah Paul and one from Emma Dornseif helped the No. 12-ranked Princeton hockey team to a 6-3 win at LIU on Tuesday afternoon.
Fillier's hat trick was the third of her career and first since Jan. 29, 2023 against Quinnipiac at Baker Rink. The three goals, scored on the power play, shorthanded and even strength, lifted Fillier to 75 career goals, making her the 13th player in program history to hit 75.
Dornseif's goal, two from Fillier and both of Paul's goals helped Princeton to a 5-0 lead before the halfway point of the game. LIU came back with two before the second period was out and another less than two minutes into the third to make it 5-3 before Fillier completed the hat trick just more than three minutes later to make it 6-3.
Taylor Hyland and Uma Corniea split the time in net, with Hyland getting the start and the win while stopping all 14 shots before giving way to Corniea, who made six saves on nine shots on goal, midway through the second period.
Princeton will close out 2023 and return to ECAC Hockey play on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Baker Rink against No. 7 Quinnipiac. Fans are encouraged to bring new or lightly used stuffed animals for a Teddy Bear Toss, and tickets are available here.
