Deven Austin Honored as Ivy League Rookie of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Freshman Deven Austin became the third member of the Princeton University men's basketball team to be honored as Ivy League Rookie of the Week Monday morning, as the conference announced its weekly awards.
Austin helped the Tigers earned the weekend sweep, first defeating Cornell on Friday, February 3, 89-82, and Columbia, 88-66, on Saturday, February 4. Both contests took place inside Jadwin Gymnasium.
On the week, he averaged 11.5 points on 57.1% shooting from the field and 85.7% shooting from the free throw line, while also pulling down nine rebounds, blocking two shots and recording two steals.
Against Cornell, Austin finished with 13 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 shooting from the free line, a season-high eight rebounds, one block and one steal. He followed up with 10 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field in Princeton's win over the Lions.
The Tigers' freshmen are no strangers to weekly honors in 2022-23, with Caden Pierce earning Rookie of the Week twice, and Xaivian Lee earning it once.
Princeton is in action next in Hanover, New Hampshire, on Saturday, February 11, at 2 p.m. against Dartmouth (8-15, 4-5).
