Five Tigers Score as Women's Soccer Team Completes Weekend Sweep
August 27, 2023 | Women's Soccer
The shutout followed Friday's 3-0 win over Monmouth, giving Princeton back-to-back shutouts to start the season for the first time since 2018.
Princeton outshot La Salle 26-3 overall and 10-0 on goal as netminder Tyler McCamey went the first 60 minutes before rookie Cecilia Cerone made her collegiate debut for the final 30 minutes.
Princeton broke through for its first goal in the 25th minute when Pietra Tordin scored her team-best third goal of the weekend, taking a pass forward from rookie Kayla Wong.

Princeton took that 2-0 lead into halftime, but it wasn't long into the second half before the Tigers added to it. Almost four minutes were gone after the break when Tordin flicked a pass to a charging Lily Bryant for the finish.

Five goals was Princeton's largest margin of victory since a 6-1 win over Bucknell on Sept. 28, 2021, and it's the team's largest win by shutout since a 6-0 win over Howard on Aug. 28, 2015. Wong is the first Tiger rookie to score a goal in each of her first two collegiate games since Tyler Lussi '17 in 2013.
Princeton will look to keep the strong start going when it hosts Rutgers Thursday at 7 p.m. at Roberts Stadium.
