No. 15 Women's Hockey Team Defeats Toronto 3-0 in Exhibition

Kate Monihan, Issy Wunder and Mia Coene had the goals and Taylor Hyland and Jennifer Olnowich combined for the shutout in goal as the No. 15-ranked Princeton women's hockey team picked up a 3-0 exhibition win over the University of Toronto Friday night at Baker Rink.

After a scoreless first period, Monihan got Princeton on the board with six-plus minutes to go in the middle frame after Sarah Paul won a pick along the boards, and left it for a charging Emerson O'Leary to dish to Monihan for the finish.

Wunder made it 2-0 with a takeaway and a goal three-plus minutes into the third period, and Coene added an empty-netter in the final minute.

Princeton outshot Toronto 62-29 overall and 26-21 on goal with Hyland making 14 saves and Olnowich seven. Monihan, Annie Kuehl and Sarah Fillier earned the three stars of the game.

Princeton will open the regular season with a two-game series at Baker against Robert Morris Oct. 13-14.
