PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton women's cross country team will return home to host the Princeton Fall Classic on Friday, October 18th.
The women's 6k will begin at 10:30 a.m. on the Meadows Campus course at Princeton University and will feature a field of 24 teams.
About the Tigers
The Tigers most recently competed in the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University, on October 5th, taking third place in a field of 42 teams with a score of 155.
Senior Mena Scatchard was the top Tiger finisher, taking 10th place overall with a time of 20:15.3. Anna McNatt finished in 12th place (20:19.2) and Alexis Allen took 21st overall (20:35.2), while freshmen Emma De Jong (20:52.9) and Meg Madison (21:14.3) rounded out the Tiger scorers in 38th and 78th place respectively.
Scatchard's performance was her third in a string of top-finishes for the Tigers, as Scatchard finished in third place at the Spiked Shoe Invite on September 13th ( 20:25.2), helping the Tigers to an overall team third place finish and a score of 78.
Madison finished eighth (20:40.6) and McNatt took 13th place (20:46.4) at the Spiked Shoe Invite, continuing a trend of promising performances this season from the underclassmen.
Princeton returns to Meadows Campus after a first place team finish at their season-opening New Jersey Jam on September 6. The Tigers earned 28 points as they raced a 4k in a field of five local rivals. Scatchard took first place overall while McNatt took second (14:09.1). Olivia Martin took seventh place (14:14.0), while Madison (14:16.4) and De Jong (14:21.9) finished eighth and 10th to round out the Tiger scorers.
The Tigers enter the season after placing second at the 2023 Ivy League Cross Country Championships. In 2023, Scatchard was named Second-Team All-Ivy after placing 14th (21:29.9) in the race.
Princeton also took sixth at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals in 2023, with Scatchard placing 35th (20:54.0).
Brad Hunt is entering his ninth season as head coach, and has coached five student-athletes to First Team All-Ivy honors (most recently Fiona Max in 2023), 12 to Second Team All-Ivy honors, and 18 to All-Region honors.
