PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's basketball team plays its final game of 2024 when it hosts Akron inside Jadwin Gymnasium on Dec. 30 before opening 2025 at home against Kean on Jan. 4.

Last Time Out
The Tigers took down Big Ten opponent Rutgers, 83-82, in the Never Forget Tribute Classic inside Prudential Center on Dec. 21. Junior Caden Pierce recorded his 24th career double-double, scoring 21 points on 10-17 shooting and grabbing 14 rebounds. Junior Xaivian Lee also had a double-double, finishing with 21 points, a career-high 11 assists, six rebounds and three steals. Princeton out-rebounded the Scarlet Knights, 43-36, and the Tigers' 19 offensive rebounds were a season-high.

The all-time series, which began in 2012, is tied 1-1. Both games have taken place during Mitch Henderson's tenure as Franklin C. Cappon-Edward C. Green '40 Head Coach.

A layup at the buzzer by Myles Stephens '19 gave Princeton a 64-62 win over Akron on Dec. 23, 2017, at the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu. Amir Bell's 16 points led the Tigers while he also grabbed five rebounds and three assists. Stephens added 15 points and six rebounds.

With 241 career victories, Mitch Henderson ranks No. 3 all-time at Princeton for wins. With nine more wins he would tie Franklin C. "Cappy" Cappon, who has 250 wins, for No. 2 all-time and with 10 would earn the No. 2 spot behind Pete Carril.

In addition, Pierce received the Ivy League Player of the Week award for the sixth time in his career on Dec. 23.

Lee declared for the 2024 NBA draft but elected to return to Princeton for his junior year. He was one of 45 players selected to attend the NBA G League Elite Camp in May.

Historic Triple Double
Lee became the first Tiger in program history to record a triple double since assists were first recorded in 1974-95 in Princeton's win at Saint Joe's on Dec. 3. Lee tied the team-high in scoring with 18 points on 7-for-14 shooting, had a game and career-high 13 rebounds along with a game and career-high 10 assists.

Before Lee, the last Princeton player to have at least 10 assists in a game was Spencer Weisz '17, who had 13 at Liberty on Dec. 10, 2016. His 13 assists against Liberty also marked the last time a Tiger had at least 11 assists in a game, a feat accomplished by Lee on Jan. 21 against Rutgers.

Through 13 games, Lee has 78 assists. In 29 games in 2024, Lee finished with 108 assists, which ranked No. 18 all-time at Princeton for most assists in a season.
