Matt Allocco Earns Second Ivy Player Of The Week Award

PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Matt Allocco earned his second Ivy League Player of the Week Award of the 2023-24 season Monday afternoon, after leading the Tigers to a weekend sweep of Brown and Yale.
Allocco helped Princeton first defeat Brown, 72-63, on Feb. 16, then Yale, 73-62, on Feb. 17. The Tigers' win over Yale was the Bulldogs' first Ivy League loss and snapped their 10-game winning streak. Both contests took place inside Jadwin Gymnasium.
He averaged 17.0 points on 47.6% shooting from the field, while going 13-for-13 from the free throw line, along with 5.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.0 steals. In addition, Allocco played all 40 minutes in both victories and did not commit a single turnover.
Against Brown, Allocco had 16 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field and 6-for-6 shooting from the free throw line along with eight rebounds, six assists and three steals. He followed that up with 18 points against Yale in a contest where he went 7-for-7 from the free throw line and had three assists, three rebounds and one steal.
A Tiger has now won Ivy League Player of the week seven times in 2023-24, with Allocco also winning it on Dec. 5. Sophomore Caden Pierce earned the accolade on Jan. 2, Dec. 4 and Nov. 12 while sophomore Xaivian Lee was a recipient on Jan. 8 and Nov. 27.
