Ivy League Weekly Awards Swept By Men’s Basketball

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Ivy League announced its weekly awards Monday afternoon and sophomore Caden Pierce of the Princeton University men's basketball team was named Player of the Week and freshman Dalen Davis Rookie of the Week. Pierce now has four Player of the Week awards in 2023-24 and Davis has been named Rookie of the Week twice.

The duo helped lead the Tigers to a 2-0 week, as they first defeated Columbia, 84-70, on Mar. 1 then Cornell, 79-77, on Mar. 2. Both contests took place inside Jadwin Gymnasium.
Pierce averaged 21.0 points-per-game on 57.7% shooting from the field. In addition, went a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line and averaged 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals. In the Tigers' win over the Lions, Pierce had 19 points on 7-for-14 shooting from the field and 4-for-4 shooting from the free throw line along with five rebounds and five assists. The next night against Cornell he finished with 23 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the field and 7-for-7 shooting from the free throw line, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.
In the two victories, Davis averaged 12.5 points on 58.8% shooting from the field and 62.5% shooting from three while also averaging 1.5 steals. He scored a career-high 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the field and 4-for-6 shooting from three while also adding three steals against Columbia, then had nine points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field against the Big Red.
The Ivy Player of the Week award is Pierce's fourth of the season, as he also received the honor on Jan. 2, Dec. 4 and Nov. 13. A Tiger has now won the conference's top weekly honor eight times in 2023-24, as senior Matt Allocco won it on Feb. 19 and Dec. 5, while sophomore Xaivian Lee was a recipient on Jan. 8 and Nov. 27. Davis' Rookie of the Week honor is his second, as he also won it on Dec. 11.
