Baseball Collects Doubleheader Split At Brown

Game 1 - Princeton 17, Brown 8
Jake Kernodle got the scoring started with an RBI single in the second inning while Jake Koonin came around to score on a throwing error to make it 2-0. Tommy Googins added an RBI double to give the Tigers an early three-run lead.
After a solo home run from Brown, Koonin smacked a two-run homer in the fourth frame to push the road squad's team's lead to four, 5-1.
A bases loaded walk got the Bears within three in the bottom of the fifth inning.
An error and RBI knock from Kernodle push the Princeton advantage to five, 7-2.
In front by four, Princeton ripped off nine runs in the seventh frame. Caden Shapiro led off with a home run followed by a Kyle Vinci two-run double. Koonin added an RBI double while Jordan Kelly tripled in Koonin. Kernodle corralled another RBI before Matt Scannell blasted a three-run blast to make it 16-3.
Brown registered five runs in the seventh and ninth innings, but it was not nearly enough.
Six different players had at least two hits with Kernodle's three leading the way. Justin Kim threw six innings and allowed three earned runs in the win.
Game 2 - Brown 11, Princeton 4
The Tigers struck first in the second inning with Koonin scoring on a wild pitch. In the third, Shapiro crossed home plate on account of a fielding error to make it 2-0.
Brown scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth, highlighted by a Gunner Boree three-run homer. The Bears added two more runs in the fifth, giving them a five-run lead.
Scannell scored on a wild pitch in the seventh to make it 7-3, but the Bears countered with three insurance runs in the bottom of the inning to go up by seven and did not look back.
The Tigers conclude their three-game series with Brown tomorrow with first pitch at 12:00 p.m.
