Men's Basketball To Face Rutgers In Seventh Edition Of Never Forget Tribute Classic

NEWARK, NJ – (September 26, 2024) – Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE) and FS1 announced today the seventh edition of the Never Forget Tribute Classic returning to Newark's Prudential Center on Saturday, December 21, 2024. The event will feature the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, who welcome the highest-ranked freshmen class in school history which is ranked as high as second in the nation, taking on their in state rivals the Princeton Tigers, who finished with the best record in the Ivy League in 2023-24. The game will air on FS1 at 12:00 PM ET.

The two schools have faced off 121 times in the past 116 years. The Tigers and Scarlet Knights are each other's most frequent out of conference opponent in their program's history. Princeton leads the series, 76-45, and has won four of the last five matchups. The two teams faced off last season, when the Tigers edged out the Scalet Knights 68-61.

Tickets are on sale Monday, September 30 at 2:00 PM ET, Princeton fans can purchase them through a special link that will be made available at that time.Â

"We are proud to be a part of the Never Forget Classic, which helps support the education of children of the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks," Princeton Head coach Mitch Henderson said. "It is a great opportunity for us to compete at Prudential Center in support of such a terrific cause."

The Tigers are coming off a run of three-straight Ivy League Championships and three-straight postseason appearances, which included a trip to the Sweet Sixteen in 2023. Mitch Henderson, named Ivy League Coach of the Year in 2023, leads Princeton for a 13th season, while the 2023 Ivy Player of the Year Caden Pierce is back along with Xaivian Lee, who joined Pierce on the All-Ivy First Team. Senior Blake Peters will aim to win his fourth conference title and continue to rise in the program's all-time three-pointers made list and Dalen Davis is set to build off a strong freshman season.
