Women’s Cross Country Takes First at New Jersey Jam
September 07, 2024 | Women's Cross Country
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton university women's cross country team opened the season on Friday, September 6 by taking first place in the New Jersey Jam. Senior Mena Scatchard claimed the top spot in the women's 4k with a time of 14:01.6, while sophomore Anna McNatt took second with a 14:09.1 finish.
"We enjoyed the opportunity to open the season at home on a beautiful night for racing. Mena Scatchard and Anna McNatt worked well together at the front of the race to pave the way for the team. The young nucleus of Liv Martin, Meg Madison, Emma De Jong and Margaret Thompson did an excellent job of competing together, placing six women in the top eleven. We will build off today by adding more depth to the lineup come October, while relying upon our well accomplished seniors to continue to guide our young squad in the weeks ahead." - Head Coach Brad Hunt, Women's Cross Country
Four other Tigers also finished in the top 11, including Olivia Martin, Meg Madison, Emma De Jong and Margaret Thompson.
Relying on the experience of upperclassmen, such as Scatchard, while combining talents of younger teammates, including two freshmen who placed in the top 10, the Tigers drew on their dynamic as a team to propel them across the finish line in first place.
