Women’s Tennis Travels To Georgia For ITA Kickoff Weekend

PRINCETON, N.J.- The Princeton women's tennis team will look to continue its positive success when the Tigers travel to Athens, Ga. for the ITA Kickoff Weekend. Princeton will face an Ivy League foe in Harvard on the first day of competition. The match is set for Saturday the 25th at 11:00 AM.
In the first match of the spring season, the Tigers battled to a 4-1 victory over Rutgers. The win served as Elizabeth Johnson's first win as the team's head coach.
The ability to overcome obstacles was on full display in the contest. Princeton dropped the doubles point, but went on to win four straight singles matches to clinch the victory.
Eva Elbaz, Alice Ferlito and Pearlie Zhang won in straight sets before Bella Chhiv battled back to defeat her opponent in a thrilling three set contest.
Harvard sits at 0-1 after being swept by Baylor 7-0.
The host team Georgia sits atop the ITA team rankings at No. 1. The Bulldogs also have the No. 1 ranked singles player in Dasha Vidmanova. Vidmanova won the NCAA Individual Championships singles title this fall. She is joined in the rankings by teammates Anastasiia Lopata and Guillermina Grant at No. 29 and No. 60 respectively. Georgia has two ranked doubles pairs of Aysegul Mert and Grant at 19 and Mert and Hayden Mulberry coming in at 43.
Charlotte's program is 2-0 thus far with a doubleheader sweep over Queens and South Carolina State. The 49ers defeated the two teams by scores of 5-0 and 7-0.
