Coene Earns Women's Hockey Team's Nomination for ECAC's Mandi Schwartz Award

Senior Mia Coene is Princeton's nominee for ECAC Hockey's Mandi Schwartz Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor, which is awarded to the ECAC Hockey student-athlete who most embodies Schwartz's excellence and leadership on the ice, in the classroom, and in the community.
Coene, a two-time captain for Princeton women's hockey, has played in a team high 115 games. She has tallied 11 career goals and eight assists on the ice.
Coene, a political science major who is also pursuing a certificate in gender studies, is a two-time ECAC All-Academic honoree. She has served as undergraduate research assistant in the politics and economics departments and is the Vice President of Cannon Dial Elm Club. Coene also worked with Let Her Play, a nonprofit organization with the mission to promote female participation in sports.
Within the Athletics Department, Coene has been a SCORRE (strength in coaching on relationships, respect, and equality) leader along with a team representative for the Varsity Student Athlete Committee.Â
Schwartz is a Yale women's ice hockey alum who fought leukemia, passing away in 2011.
