PRINCETON, N.J. – Looking to close out September with another strong performance, the Princeton men's cross country team will head to Columbia, Mo. for the Gans Creek Classic on Friday, September 26th. The men's 8k Gold race is set to begin at 9:45 a.m. CT.
After taking a trip to the site of the Ivy League Championships for the Iona Meet of Champions, the Tigers will now scope out the site of the NCAA Championships as they head to the Gans Creek Cross Country Course this weekend.
Last Time Out
Princeton most recently took first place at the Iona Paddy Doyle Meet of Champions on Friday in Van Cortlandt, N.Y.
With a team score of 69 points, Princeton took the win in a tie-breaker with Yale, tallying three of five faster performances in the head-to-head comparison. Jacob Nenow was the top Tiger finisher, taking first place at the meet with a five-mile time of 25:02.90.
Brian Boler and Avery Keith were next across the finish line for Princeton, taking 13th and 14th respectively with times of 25:45.20 and 25:51.00.
Collin Boler and Christian Groendyk rounded out the Tiger scorers, with Boler taking 19th with a time of 26:03.80 and Groendyk taking 22nd (26:08.20).
Before that, Princeton dominated its season opening Jersey Jam, taking first place with a score of 38 to best Route 1 rival Rutgers by one point. Collin Boler was the top Tiger finisher at the meet.
Looking Back on 24-25
The Tigers enter the 2025 season after completing the Ivy League Triple Crown last academic year, which began with winning the 2024 Ivy League Cross Country Championship. The Triple Crown marked Princeton's second-consecutive after achieving the feat in 2023-24.
Last cross country season, Princeton took second place at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals before going on to take 24th as a team at the NCAA Championships.
Princeton is now ranked 20th nationally and first in the Mid-Atlantic Region in the USTFCCCA's most recent poll.
Meet the Tigers
Princeton returns several Tigers who played key roles in the team's success last season. Myles Hogan is set to begin his senior season in the Orange & Black after taking seventh at last year's Mid-Atlantic Regional. He was also the top Tiger finisher at NCAAs, placing 64th with a 10k PR of 29:38.9. Hogan earned First Team All-Ivy Honors after placing fifth at the Ivy Championships.
Jackson Shorten, a 2024 Second Team All-Ivy honoree, returns for his senior season after placing 14th at last year's regionals.
Senior Connor McCormick took 11th at last year's Ivy Championships, finishing third for Princeton, before taking 27th at NCAA regionals.
Nenow enters his sophomore year at Princeton after excelling in the distance events during the indoor and outdoor track season. In his first collegiate 10,000m at the Sam Howell invitational, he set a program record in the event with a PR of 28:23.60.
The Tigers are also joined by seven talented newcomers in Thomas Arender, Hayden Boaz, Hudson Haley, Sebi Hume, Tsedeke Jakovics, James McLeay and Tristan Yoder.
