Powered by Hicke's Career-High 27 Points, Men's Basketball Earns 76-60 Victory Over Yale

PRINCETON, N.J. – Powered by junior Jackson Hicke's career and game-high 27 points, the Princeton University men's basketball team earned an impressive 76-60 victory over Yale inside Jadwin Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.
In addition to moving the Tigers to 2-0 in Ivy League play, the win moved Princeton to 154-102 all-time against the Bulldogs, and 91-33 at home.
Junior Dalen Davis scored 17 points off the bench on 5-for-12 shooting from the field, 3-for-5 from three and 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Davis brings his career total in three-pointers made to 96, just three short of 100.
Sophomore Jack Stanton added 10 points and went 7-for-7 from the free throw line, while sophomore Malik Abdullahi finished with eight points, a game-high nine rebounds and a game-high four assists, tying his career-high in both categories. Junior Jacob Huggins contributed a game and career-high three blocks in addition to five rebounds and three assists.
The game began as a back-and-forth battle, with a pair of early Happy three-pointers along with layups by Abdullahi and Hicke putting the Tigers in front with 14:00 left in the half, 10-7. Yale battled back and took a 15-12 lead with 10:29 on the clock. The Bulldogs would pull away to take a slight edge, 22-20, at 0:42 but a jumper by Hicke with 0:14 remaining in the half sent the Tigers into the half tied with Yale, 22-22.
Princeton opened the second half on a 10-4 run, taking a 32-26 advantage with 14:45 left to play after a Stanton three-pointer. The Bulldogs battled back to take a 33-32 lead at 12:41, but back-to-back layups by Hicke put Princeton back in front at 11:44, 36-33.
With the Tigers up three, 49-46, with 4:34 on the clock, Davis buried a three then drained a pair of free throws to put Princeton up eight, 54-46, at 4:01. With 1:47 remaining and the Tigers leading 65-57 a free throw by Hicke led a 12-3 run on which Princeton would close the game out on as it went on to pick up the 76-60 victory.
