Late Goal Lifts Harvard Past Princeton in Weekend Finale
February 07, 2026 | Women's Ice Hockey
A goal with just more than four minutes to play helped lift Harvard past the No. 7/6-ranked Princeton women's hockey team on Saturday afternoon in Cambridge, 3-2.
The Tigers remained atop ECAC Hockey after the day's results, but the margin stands at just two points, with Princeton's 44 ahead of Yale's 42. The two teams will meet Friday night at Baker Rink. The result also made a weekend sweep necessary next weekend if Princeton is to overtake the Bulldogs and Cornell for the Ivy League title, as Princeton will host Brown in the regular-season finale next Saturday.
A Jane Kuehl rebound goal got Princeton on the board and opened the scoring seven minutes into the game. Though Harvard's Morgan McGathey tied it with seven-plus minutes left in the opening frame, the tie lasted just 34 seconds before a Megan Healy blast found its way home to give Princeton a 2-1 lead.
Though Princeton peppered Harvard netminder Ainsley Tuffy with 40 shots on goal to 24 for the Crimson amid an 84-47 edge in total shots, Tuffy made 38 stops on the day as McGathey added her second five minutes into the middle period and Ella Lucia scored the eventual game-winner in the third.
