Princeton Defeats Winthrop 10-3 in Strong Offensive Showing

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Princeton baseball started off their series against Winthrop with a strong 10-3 win.
Princeton's offense erupted in the fourth inning with a seven-run rally. Will Robbins started by doubling down the left field line, bringing home Jake Kernodle while Jake Koonin advanced to third. Moments later, Koonin scored on an error by Winthrop.
Isaac Lamson extended the lead with an RBI double, bringing in Robbins and Dylan Zdunek to make it 4-0. Grant Werdesheim followed with an RBI single that scored Brady Kaufman, and following another error, Lamson and Werdesheim made it to home, making it 7-0.
The Tigers added insurance late in the game. In the eighth inning, Jake Koonin delivered an RBI single to score Kernodle, and Robbins added another run with an RBI groundout that brought home Bennet Crerar. Princeton closed out their scoring in the ninth when Tommy Googins drove in Kaufman with a groundout to make it 10-3.
Winthrop attempted to rally late with three runs across the sixth and eighth innings, but could not inch closer.
Princeton starter James Beasley allowed just five hits and one run. Jackson Baldrate finished the game with a scoreless ninth to secure the win.
Princeton continues its series against Winthrop Wednesday. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
