Men's Hoops' Clay Wilson to Take Basketball Trip to Europe
August 12, 2014 | Men's Basketball
Princeton men's basketball rising senior Clay Wilson will be heading to Europe for a hoops tour alongside several familiar faces.
Wilson will be traveling to Belgium with visits to London and Amsterdam for a nine-day trip as part of the Global Sports Academy's Goodwill Tour from August 13-21. The itinerary will begin in Belgium with stops in Brussels, Ghent, Antwerp and Brugge with a one-day visit to Amsterdam during the continental portion of the trip. On the final day before heading back to the U.S., Wilson and teammates will visit London before returning to Brussels for the trip home.
Five games and a scrimmage opener, all against local club teams, will make up the basketball portion of the trip. More than half of the 11-man roster is made up by players Wilson has faced with Princeton during his career, including Cornell's Shonn Miller, Dartmouth's John Golden, Yale's Javier Duren and Matt Townsend, and Alec Wintering and Bryce Pressley from the University of Portland, which the Tigers took on last December in Las Vegas.
Wilson previously visited Europe for a hoops trip two summers ago with his Tiger teammates as the program toured Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia in 2012.
Wilson's trip adds to the European happenings for current and former Tigers this summer, with Judson Wallace '05 winning an Italian league title with Olimpia Milano and rising junior Hans Brase playing with the German second national team in Romania and China.
This fall, Wilson will be a part of a five-member senior class along with Daniel Edwards, Bobby Garbade, Ben Hazel and Denton Koon, a group that has played in the postseason twice and has 58 wins over its three seasons with the program.
