PRINCETON, N.J. (11/23/16) - Princeton and Boston University will square off in a pair of games this weekend, Nov. 25 & 26 at Walter Brown Arena. It marks the first time the teams have played each other in six years.
EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton continues to receive votes in the national poll for the second straight week after starting the season in the top 10. The Tigers dominated No. 5 Colgate last weekend with a resounding 7-2 victory before falling 2-1 to Cornell the next afternoon. Overall the squad is 5-4-1 and is 2-0 against teams from Hockey East, after opening the season with a sweep of Providence. Averaging 3.10 goals per game and allowing 2.10 gpg, the Tigers boast this week's ECAC Hockey Player of the Week, Karlie Lund and the Rookie of the Week Carly Bullock. Both had four-point weekends last weekend. Lund leads the offense with 14 points on nine goals and five assists in 10 games. Senior Molly Contini has nine points and seniors Cassidy Tucker and All-American defender Kelsey Koelzer have eight each. Senior Morgan Sly chips in seven points, while Bullock has six. Junior Alysia DaSilva has played every minute in goal and has a .925 save percentage and a 1.98 goals against average. Princeton is 39/47 (83%) on the penalty kill and 7/55 (12.7%) on the penalty kill.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
Boston University is 8-5-1 on the season and is coming off of a 4-3 overtime win over Harvard on Tuesday. It marks the team's third straight win and first game of the season against a team from the ECAC. The Terriers have the second-best scoring offense in the nation, averaging 3.86 goals per game and have held teams to 3.00. The power-play unit has scored 13 times on 69 chances (18.8 percent) to rank eighth nationally, while the penalty kill is 63 of 74 (85.1 percent). The Terriers have a veteran team with the top five scorers being seniors or juniors. Junior Victoria Bach has 22 points on 10 goals and a team-high 12 assists. Senior Mary Park has a team-high 13 goals and eight assists for 21 points. Junior Rebecca Leslie follows with 14 points, senior Maddie Elia has 13 and senior Samantha Sutherland and sophomore Sammy Davis have 12 apiece. BU splits goaltending duties between senior Victoria Hanson and Erin O'Neil. Hanson has slightly better numbers with a .919 save percentage and a 2.42 GAA. O'Neil has an .899 save percentage and a 3.28.
SERIES HISTORY
Princeton and Boston University have met six times with BU holding a 4-2 edge in the series. The teams first met in 2007 in Boston with Princeton taking a 4-2 win. The next year at Hobey Baker Rink the Terriers won 4-2. The teams split a series in 2009 a year before BU swept in 2010.
